Anxiety During The Pandemic – How to Handle It

How are you handling your anxiety during the pandemic? Discover a few tips that can help you get through these hard times!

Depression is probably one of the most complex issues that the human body can be struck with. There are many forms, it manifests differently in different people and there are variations of mild to severe, but no matter what kind you have, it does not lessen its terrifying symptoms or make you any less worthy of getting help for it. Anxiety is also a common ailment associated with depression also. It should not be taboo to talk about your problems, because these trying times during the Covid 19 crisis are difficult and heartbreaking for many. Never ever be ashamed to admit you feel bad. Ever. These types of feelings are connected to being human because we feel.

It’s good to talk

Talking things through is so important and so it’s important to look at people who can help and reach out to them accordingly. The coronavirus pandemic has affected us all in many ways, physical and mental ailments are becoming all too common. You could look at coronavirus virtual consultations. It’s good to talk. Putting feelings into words helps us use self-control when we feel anxious or upset. The purpose of expressing your emotions is to convey your true feelings, and to make the first step in overcoming it. Other times we need to express our pain and sadness for self validation or to let someone else know how you feel. However, as humans we feel that admitting this makes us weak or we feel too afraid to talk things through. 

Breathe through things 

Breathing is a great way to help you through difficult times. Applying breathing techniques to gentle exercising and meditation can be really important and help you so much. There are plenty of tips to help you with your breathing but being sure of other ways to help yourself is going to give you all the tips you need. These trying times are affecting us because we have never lived through times as difficult as these as a nation. The fear of becoming sick or the fear of losing your job or home. Some people have accepted that things have changed and that the world is moving towards a new normal, but it still doesn’t help those of us suffering with anxiety. 

Take a look at some other ways to get on top of your anxiety: 

  1. Take a time-out – listen to music, get out in nature, take up a hobby.
  2. Eat well-balanced meals – eat healthy food, veg and fruit.
  3. Limit alcohol and caffeine, which can aggravate anxiety and trigger panic attacks.
  4. Get enough sleep – this is so important for your mood.
  5. Exercise daily to help you feel good and maintain your health – even if it’s just a short walk. 
  6. Take deep breaths. 
  7. Count to 10 slowly.  
  8. Do your best and realize you don’t have to do everything all at once. Take it slow.

These times will pass and you will be able to overcome and handle your anxiety during the pandemic, but for now, continue to do things the best way you can in order to continue life as comfortably as possible.
