Bennett’s Creek Guest House is an amazing little gem nestled in Gatesville, North Carolina. My stepson graduated from high school and I did an extensive search of the local area for a comfortable, affordable place to stay. I am an avid review reader and a friend of mine told me about Airbnb as an alternative to traditional hotels. That is when I found Bennett’s Creek Guest House.
Gatesville, North Carolina is the county seat of Gates County and although that seems like it’d have to be a large city to hold that title, Gatesville is extremely quaint. It had a population of only 321 in 2010 and is only 0.4 square miles in size. A lot of the local homes and buildings are charming and rustic. When you open the door to the guest house, you’ll find yourself in a living room/dining room combo. The seating is comfortable and you’ll find a bookshelf with a nice selection reading material.
The guest house features two bedrooms, each named for Jack and Denise Owens’ granddaughters, Anna and Emma. The guest house is named after their grandson, Bennett. The two bedrooms each feature a queen size bed, chest of drawers and a luggage rack. The Emma suite has a desk with a TV. The bedding was very cozy, warm and inviting in beautiful colors.
After looking at the beautiful photos of the guest house online, I knew this would be the perfect place for our family to stay. The kitchen is not full size but it offers everything you could need to cook a meal. Juice and bottled water were left in the fridge in addition to the banana nut bread that Denise bakes for guests.
The bathroom always seems to be one of my biggest complaints when we stay somewhere. I had absolutely NO reason to complain on this visit! The shower is quite roomy, updated and plenty of towels are soft and of high quality. If you forget essentials like shampoo, they have back ups! I loved that a washer and dryer are in the guest house, too. I was able to have our clothes clean so that when we returned home, all we had to do was put everything away. It really took a strain off of me!
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this guest house and would love to return when we make our way back over that direction. A head’s up though – the guest house does have wi-fi access; however, if you have AT&T cell service, you probably won’t have a single bit of incoming or outgoing phone/text service. My stepson has Verizon and his was extremely intermittent and spotty. If you want a place to “get away from it all” then this is the place to go!
