Chocolate Mousse has always been a favorite, easy-to-make treat and now I have a flavor to enjoy when Fall begins. Pumpkin-flavored treats are often heavy breads and cakes. This creamy mousse is the perfect alternative for those looking for something a little lighter. If you need a gluten-free option, simply serve without the added ginger snap cookies. Personally, those are my favorite though!

The trick to a perfect mousse is getting the consistency just right. This requires starting with a high-quality whipping cream. It is the soul of this recipe, after all! You don’t want your mousse to end up too thick or too runny.

If you find that your mousse has a grainy texture, then you’ve over-whipped the whipping cream. Be sure to follow the times in the recipe. This will ensure that your mousse will be smooth and creamy!

Ingredients You’ll Need:

1 pint heavy whipping cream
6 tablespoons real maple syrup, divided
1 15-oz. can pumpkin purée (not pumpkin pie filling)
8 oz. cream cheese, softened, cubed
2 tablespoons pumpkin pie spice
1 teaspoon real vanilla extract
1/3 cup half & half

Optional:
Pecan halves
Ground cinnamon, for dusting
Ginger Snap cookies, for serving

Creamy Pumpkin Mousse with Maple Whipped Cream and Ginger Snap Cookies

Instructions:

Beat the heavy whipping cream in a large bowl with a hand mixer until it doubles in size. Add 2 tablespoons of maple syrup and continue beating until light and fluffy. Cover and place in the refrigerator until ready to use.

Beat the pumpkin purée, cream cheese, pumpkin pie spice, vanilla extract, half &half, and remaining maple syrup in a large mixing bowl with a hand mixer until thoroughly blended.

Taste and adjust seasonings, as desired, and transfer to individual dessert bowls. Cover and place in the refrigerator to chill for at least 1 hour.

To serve, remove from refrigerator and top with maple whipped cream, pecans, and a sprinkle of ground cinnamon, if desired. Enjoy!
