When God Happens: True Stories of Modern Day Miracles

Bestselling authors Angela Hunt and Bill Myers present firsthand accounts of modern-day miracles

When God Happens - Angela Hunt and Bill MyersMany Christians wonder:  Does God still perform miracles? To answer that question, bestselling Christian authors Angela Hunt and Bill Myers searched for people who have experienced a miracle firsthand – ordinary men and women who have witnessed a moment of divine intervention when the hand of God was briefly revealed.

The stories they discovered stunned them.

In When God Happens:  True Stories of Modern Day Miracles, Hunt and Myers present eight astounding, untold stories from real people who have experienced miracles, including:

  • A couple who witnessed angles at a fiery car crash (p. 1)
  • A woman visited by angels after a terrorist attack (p. 17)
  • A man who was told his baby would be stillborn – but instead had a healthy daughter (p. 29)
  • A teenage girl rescued from a satanic priest (p. 39)
  • A woman who encountered the warmth of God after a heart-breaking divorce (p. 79)
  • A man healed on his deathbed (p. 95)
  • A believer who exorcized a psychic possessed by demons (p. 125)

When God Happens reminds us that there are no laws of physics or science a loving God must follow to express his love. As Hunt and Myers write in their introduction, “The God who reached down to touch those He loved in Bible days has not changed. He has not turned His back on us or left us to our own devices. As Scripture states, “[He] is he same yesterday, today, and forever.”

Book Review

When God Happens, you know it. He might give you a big nudge to make His presence known — or it could be a gentle pat on your shoulder. Whatever the case is, it’s hard to deny when you’ve experienced a miracle at His hands. This book is incredibly uplifting for those who believe that He truly works in mysterious ways. As a believer, I understand how difficult it is to give it to God and have faith that He will see us through. Several of the stories shared brought me to tears at the incredible ways God intervened. This would be a wonderful book for church groups or even book club!

Praise for When God Happens

“True Stories like these require those who don’t believe in angels, or the God who sends them, to explain the unexplainable. A related question:  who wants a God one can explain?” – Cal Thomas, nationally syndicated columnist

“Reading When God Happens is like receiving an intravenous dose of hope in a world parched by hopelessness. It will remind you not just to hope for miracles but to expect them.” -Melanie Henry, Guideposts magazine writer and author of fifty-four books.

Excerpt – When God Heals – Contributed by Pastor Skip Ball

“…Ken had a massive heart attack on May ninth and is now on life support. He’s not responding to any treatment – he’s in a coma. I’m not asking you to visit, but we felt we had to call you because we don’t know if he’s right with God. He’s at Halton General Hospital. He was admitted to Ward B4, but they’ve had to move him to the ICU.” I mumbled, “I’m so sorry, Rainy. I’ll be praying.”

I met Steve Powell on the front steps of the hospital. The mist stopped, and he had stepped out to get some air. He smiled weakly and we shook hands.

“Hi, Steve,” I began, “I’m so sorry to hear about your dad. Rainy called me earlier. I felt I should come. What does the doctor say?”

“He’s tried to prepare us for the worst.” Later Steve told me the full diagnosis of his father’s condition. “My father’s physician is Dr. John Williams. He said he’s withdrawn all active treatment because he’s deteriorated so much. They put him on life support because he couldn’t breathe on his own.” Steve shuddered and wrapped his arms around himself. “It’s been so hard to listen and watch him try to breathe. He also said that my dad developed terminal respiratory secretions. That’s where saliva and bronchial fluids fill his throat and upper chest because he can’t swallow. They call it the death rattle. It sounds terrible.”

We walked into the ICU where Ken lay still and quiet. He’d been in a coma for four days. The sick man lay in a deathlike state – his breath, dead air; his mind, lost in a web of unconsciousness. Enshrouded by monitors and wires, Ken breathed automatically – a clicking sound followed by a rasping, mechanical gasp. Without he ventilator, he would die. A man was being sucked into a world form which he could not return, and no one knew the state of his eternal soul. I touched his pasty hand. Dark veins protruded like a three-dimensional road map.

“Pastor, will you offer a prayer for my dad?” I nodded. “Of course.” “Lord, raise this man to life..” Instantly, I pulled my hand away. The ventilator began flashing. A nurse hurried in and checked the read-outs. She wrote something on his chart and left. I couldn’t read her facial expressions. “Steve, God’s love never fails. I’l come by tomorrow morning to see how your dad’s doing. Is that okay?” Steve nodded. He stood there pale and uncertain. Was he expecting a miracle?” (pages 110 – 124)
